What would happen if you went out to start your car one morning and you couldn’t turn it on? This would probably have a major impact on the rest of your day, especially if it meant you were unable to get to work or drive the kids to school. With temperatures dropping daily in the Franklin area, the cold weather can be a strain on your Mazda CX-5, and especially its battery. Cold weather means the battery has to work harder to deliver power to the engine, along with the lights, heat, and other components. But how do you know if your battery is dying? See if any of these things are familiar:
Clicking Sound
If you hear a clicking when you turn the key, this is a sign that the battery is having trouble sending enough current to the starter.
Sluggish Start
A car with a healthy battery starts almost immediately. But if it takes a little while for yours to get going, the battery is probably to blame.
No Start without Pressing on the Gas Pedal
When things are as they should be, cars should start almost effortlessly. If you need to step on the accelerator, something is almost certainly wrong with the battery.
Dimmed Headlights
Do your headlights look weak? If so, chances are good that the battery is failing. Decreased light is also dangerous for you and your passengers.
If you have noticed any of these symptoms with your battery, you shouldn’t wait to get it looked at. Our Mazda service center will diagnose the problem and either make the necessary repair or get your Mazda CX-5 outfitted with a new battery.

2019 MAZDA CX-5 Details
Powertrain
You will have your choice of three different engines with the 2019 Mazda CX-5. The base is a 187-horsepower 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder unit. Brand-new for this year is a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that produces 227 horsepower, which can go up to 250 when you use premium gas. The third option is available in the Signature trim, and it’s a 2.2-liter Skyactiv®-D diesel engine.
Comfort and Space
The 2019 Mazda CX-5 has plenty of space for five people, and there is a lot of headroom. Manually adjustable front seats, cloth upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are all standard. You can upgrade to get leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, and power-adjustable front seats. In addition to room for people, you will also have a lot of room for stuff in your Mazda CX-5. There is 30.9 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, which increases to 59.6 when it is down.
Safety
You’ll find several advanced safety features in the new Mazda CX-5, including low-speed automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and a rearview camera. To make your car even safer, you can equip it with countless other options, such as full-speed automatic braking, a 360-degree parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, and lane-keep assist.

It won’t be long now before the really cold days get to Whiteland. And while you may have gotten your HVAC serviced or dug out all of your warmest clothes, have you prepared your car for the colder temperatures on the way? Now is a good time to focus on some key areas for maintenance, including:
Tires
Late fall and winter weather means snow and ice, and lots of it. That’s why you have to be sure that your tires will give you the traction you need to stop safely. You may also want to think about putting snow tires on before it really starts to fall.
Battery
Without a good battery, your Mazda SUV may not be able to take you anywhere. You should think about having your battery tested now because they have to work harder in cold weather. And when you add in the fact that you could be using several high-power systems once – like the heater, headlights, and windshield wipers – you’ll understand why winter can be tough for your battery.
Headlights
Speaking of headlights, this is another crucial component during the winter. Shorter days mean darker days, and you have to be able to rely on your lights to cut through the murk.
Windshield Wipers
Once the freezing rain, sleet, and snow arrive, how confident are you that your wipers will clear all of that for you? If you have your doubts, a new pair is inexpensive and can be installed pretty easily.
If you’re concerned about any of these areas, our Mazda service center can check out your vehicle and make sure that it’s in great condition before the bad weather arrives.

Get Your Brakes Ready for Fall in Greenwood
It won’t be long now before the temperature drops significantly in the Greenwood area and we will all need to dig out our sweaters and jackets. But that won’t be the only thing falling; soon our streets will be covered in leaves, and when you add rain into the mix, this can make for very slippery conditions. This is why it’s vital that your brakes are working properly on your Mazda SUV or whatever else you drive. If you’ve noticed any of these issues, it’s time to have them looked at:
Squeaking
If you hear something that sounds like squeaking or squealing when you approach a stop sign or red light, chances are that something is wrong with your brakes. While this sound most likely isn’t a rotor or other part, it’s probably a metal shim that’s designed to alert you when there is something amiss.
Slow Response
Does your car have trouble stopping unless you really press down hard on the brake pedal? This could indicate a problem with the brake line. There may be a fluid leak or air that has gotten into the line.
Vibrations
If you feel some shaking when applying the brakes, this is probably related to the rotors. Rotors can become warped over time with a lot of stop-and-go driving, especially with steep descents or if a vehicle does a lot of towing.
Grinding
Hearing a grinding sound related to your car is never good, and if you hear it when putting on the brakes, this could mean that the pads have worn down completely. If this is the case, the metal caliper and metal brake disc are rubbing against each other, and it’s possible that the rotors will need to be tuned or replaced.
If you think something it wrong with your brakes, the Mazda service center at our dealership will give you an expert repair or replacement. Contact us to schedule an appointment.

Our Mazda Dealership Redesign
If you have seen any new Mazda vehicles recently – either out on the road or in a commercial – you’ve probably noticed how eye-catching they are. Mazda cars have been designed with aesthetics as well as performance in mind, and are intended to “embody the dynamic beauty of life,” according to the company’s KODO design language.
The Mazda Vision Coupe was recently named the Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year at the recent Festival Automobile International in Paris, and one of the striking things about this vehicle is that it looks like it’s in motion even when it’s parked.
“The reflection of light over the surface flows linearly with the movement of the car, creating a vehicle that seems truly alive,” said Ikuo Maeda, Mazda’s global design chief. “The predominant highlight on the body shoulder is strong and sharply-styled, emphasizing a powerful physique, while softer, more elegant light patterns shimmer across the empty spaces extending over the vehicle.”
Mazda Dealerships are Getting in on the Act
In conjunction with new designs for Mazda models, dealerships are also being transformed. If you’ve been to our Mazda dealership, you are probably familiar with our green, blue, and orange color schemes. We’re switching to black and white, which offers a sleeker, more modern look. We will also be focusing more on tech to improve the buying experience for our customers.

If you drive by our Greenwood dealership and see a lot of building going on, rest assured that we are still open. Even during construction, you can come to see all of the new Mazda cars we have in stock. Any questions? Just give us a call at 317-851-5777.
